5 Easy Storage Ideas to Keep your Bathroom Organized
Makeup, toiletries, and hair tools can easily overtake your bathroom countertops making it stressful to get ready and out the door quickly. Here are some clever ways and products to use to organize bathroom cabinets, drawers, and linen closets. These easy storage ideas can keep your bathroom organized and eliminate bathroom countertop clutter once and for all!
First, Declutter:
First to begin any bathroom organization project, pull contents out of cabinets and drawers and “re-sort” all contents into categories. Group lotion together, bath items, hair tools, etc. Then toss any products that are empty, expired, never used, or leaking/gunky. Once you are left with items you use, it will be easier to determine where items should go in the bathroom and what organization products would be most useful. Store frequently used items in your bathroom cabinet and things like medicine/first aid, cotton supplies, and infrequently used bathroom items in a linen closet (or in an additional bathroom cabinet if you have one).
Stack & Go Vertical Under Bathroom Sinks:
I have a few products I love to use under bathroom sinks to make the most of space. Products like a cabinet shelf allows you to stack contents to take advantage of vertical space on either side of sink plumbing. In this bathroom I used a Medium cabinet shelf from Container Store and a divided turntable on top of the shelf to organize hair brushes and hair products. Under the shelf I was able to put some containers that can easily be pulled out and up to the shelf.
Wondering how to organize hair tools like curling irons and blow dryers? This divided bath tote from Container Store is a great way to keep tools upright and organized. It maximizes space under the sink and the dividers help cords from getting tangled.
Stacking bins like these from the Container Store are another great option for using vertical space. Dividers can separate different categories of bathroom items. I suggest using these stacking bins for infrequently used items (like nails, speciality bath items etc.) as unstacking daily may be cumbersome.
Multipurpose bins are my favorite products to use under bathroom sinks. These high sided and relatively narrow deep bins are perfect for storing shampoo, lotion, dental items, etc. They are also perfect bins to use for storing cleaning supplies in a bathroom.
Repurpose Unused Space:
This bathroom lacked drawer space and storage for smaller items. There was a space under the sink for a chair that the client didn’t intend to use. In this case we repurposed the space by bringing in additional stacking drawers (his and hers) for additional storage. These stacking drawers from Target are sturdy and are great for storing both smaller and larger items. The inside of the drawers can be organized with inexpensive drawer organizers from Target.
Corral bathroom items with Drawer Organizers:
The Brightroom Drawer Organizers from Target are my favorite option to organize bathroom drawers. Available in 4 sizes you can easily arrange the dividers to fit the inside of your drawers. At $2 a pack they are a relatively inexpensive way to bring some order to the inside of bathroom drawers. If the inside of your bathroom drawers are deeper than 6 inches, then try the Like It modular drawer inserts from Container Store. These are more expensive but also available in different sizes to accommodate dimensions of your drawer.
Use a Linen Closet for Bathroom Storage:
If you have a linen closet in your bathroom it can hold more than just linens and towels! This is a perfect spot to store infrequently used bathroom items and medicine. The floor of your linen closet is a great spot to hide bathroom cleaning products as well. In linen closets I like to use the Handy Basket from Container Store for storage as you can grab contents easily and carry over to your bathroom sink. I also love to use the Divided STAK bins to organize medicine in linen closets.
